At-Home Teeth Whitening System and a Giveaway!

I am a coffee lover through and through, the downside to that is my teeth have become coffee stained. Flashing my pearly whites doesn’t happen anymore. No amount of brushing with the currently available teeth whitening kinds of toothpaste work. Strips don’t work. Short of going to the dentist for a pricey whitening job, nothing works. At least not until I found Smile Brilliant; or rather, they found me.

After years of trying everything, I was more than thrilled when Smile Brilliant reached out to me, asking if I would like to give their in-home whitening trays a go. Oh Smile Brilliant, you had me at in home! For starters, I can’t swing the tab that the dentist would charge, and to be honest I am kind of a homebody these days, so going out just for teeth whitening? I would rather not.

Of course, I said yes, and shortly after received a kit in the mail with a consent card and all the things I would need to create my one of a kind, custom trays. Which, by the way, this is how the dentist office likes doing it. The kit includes two trays, one for an upper impression, and one for a lower. It also includes three sets of paste and catalyst for creating the compound needed for the impressions. They included a third set because I found out, make the best impressions isn’t as easy as you think!

After making my impressions and signing my consent card, I popped the package in the mail and sat back to wait for my custom fitted trays. I love Smile Brilliant’s customer service; they updated me along the way to let me know when they received my impressions, and when my trays were on the way. It only took a couple of weeks before I had trays in hand, and started my teeth whitening adventure!

Whitening with this system is super easy. You have two types of gel; one for whitening, and one for desensitizing after whitening. To start you want to brush your teeth with just water; then draw a line with the whitening gel inside your trays on the side that will cover the front of your teeth. You will want to do this for between 45 minutes-3 hrs per day but only whiten once per day. If you have sensitive teeth, start with a smaller amount of time and only whiten every other day.

After whitening, rinse your mouth and your trays and brush a usual, then making sure your trays are dry, add your desensitizing gel in the same fashion you did before and apply for 20 minutes. At the end of your 20 minutes spit out the excess but don’t rinse. This is why whitening before bed is the best bet.

I am totally impressed with this system. I have been whitening for about a month (off and on due to personal reasons) and I can’t believe the difference! Never have I felt better about my smile, and now my pearly whites are flashable! I haven’t experienced any sensitivity with this system, although it is possible depending on your personal sensitivity levels. One thing that I was told, and found to help, was coating my gums in coconut oil. This created a barrier between my gums and the gel, which helped avoid any sensitivity on my gums.

One of my favorite things about this system is my ability to multi-task while whitening. I just slip in my trays, set my timer, and go about my day. I don’t lose any time with kids if I choose to whiten during the day. This allows me to work, clean, and play while whitening, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like that I am able to get several applications out of each syringe; Smile Brilliant says you can get 3-4, but I was able to squeeze a few more than that. It all really depends on the amount of gel you use with each application.
