CBD – Extraction Process, Different Concentrates

Believe it or not, all CBD compounds aren’t created equal. The exact quality of CBD product depends on the seeds, which move to the hemp plant leading to the extraction process. Having a fine, high-quality CBD product, at last, requires keeping a hawk’s eye on the CBD extraction and growing procedure.

The growing popularity of CBD –

By the time it has been legalized in almost all states of the U.S., people are going crazy about CBD (we know you must be one of them). And why not when it offers you so many health perks without taking a toll on your health. With this, researchers predict that the U.S. consumer sales of CBD enriched products are likely to hit 1.8 billion U.S. dollars profit by the end of 2022. This number is enough to shout out its ever-growing demand in the market.

Furthermore, the researchers believe that the sales are expected to go beyond 23 billion U.S. dollars in 2025 or so. Talking about the past records, the overall sales CBD worth 730 million U.S. dollars in California made CBD a progressive compound with a bright future.

Coming back to its quality, evaluating and altering the CBD extraction process throughout the growing stage is essential to get a fine product at last. The extraction process is all about uprooting quality cannabinoids from the cannabis plant.

The extraction process decides the overall quantity of different CBD types, including full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, isolate, etc. As per wonderbuds experts, there are five most common types of concentrates available in the marketplace. It includes – Kief, Rosin, Hash, Shatter, and Live Resin. All of these follow different extraction procedures deciding the intensity level. Thus, when you buy any CBD concentrates type, ensure to know about its extraction procedure first.

Let’s put some light on the different extraction processes.

1 – Steam distillation –

It is a well-tried and tested CBD extraction process. The steam distillation method entails the ‘plant material’ tank with an outlet and inlet. Further, the distillation tank is joined to a different tank containing sufficient water supplied via the inlet.

To proceed, the water is heated in the first tank connected. With this, the steam travels in an upward direction towards the plant material tank. This results in separating the oil vapors consisting of concentrated CBD.

2 – Co2 extraction –

Currently, the Co2 extraction procedure is highly recommended due to its efficient results. The process uses supercritical Co2 to classify CBD compounds from the rooted plant material. Co2 (carbon dioxide) plays an important role in effectively separating the liquid and gas elements. Overall, the method brings high-quality CBD concentrates without any toxic leftover behind.

3 – Solvent extraction –

This procedure is similar to the one listed on the top (steam distillation). Solvent extraction uses alcohol, propane, butane, and different compounds like – ethanol, olive oil, etc., to extract CBD effectively. Further, it involves a quick evaporation process to evaporate the leaves while leaving behind the concentrated CBD oil.

The last word –

The quality of CBD depends on its extraction and growing stage. That’s why experts recommend evaluating the extraction process minutely. Whether you are about to buy or grow it, learning about CBD extraction and other quality aspects is essential to judge its potential.
