Movie Night; Slimy, yet satisfying treats + A GIVEAWAY!

I bet that not a single one of us would wonder what movie is about to play when the iconic opening song plays in The Lion King. When we hear the line “Nants ingonyama bagithi baba / Sithi uhhmm ingonyama” belted out, we know that we are being transported to the African Savannah to await the arrival of the Lion Prince.
The Lion King is one of my favorite movies, and the original came out just a few months before my 14th birthday…now here I am just a few weeks from turning 39, and The Lion King has made a new debut…this time in what is referred to as the live-action version.
While it is safe to say that this movie is vastly different than its animated predecessor, namely because A. it’s not animate, and B. the cast of character voices is so different…save for James Earl Jones, who in my opinion is the ONLY voice for Mufasa…the reality is the storyline is that which we all remember and love.
The birth of the prince, the tragic death of the king, the sinister rule of the uncle and his minions, and the triumphant return of the new king…not to mention a love story! Yes, The Lion King is everything we remember, with just a few twists. Songs have changed, not lyrically, but certainly, in the way, they are performed…which is to be expected when the main characters are voiced by Donald Glover and Beyonce Knowles-Carter.
I had the chance to enjoy a rather slimy movie night with my kids, just in time for the Blu-Ray release of The Lion King, which by the way, IS TODAY, 10/22/2019!! I was able to create a few slimy, yet satisfying snacks to accompany our movie, that would have made Timon and Pumbaa proud!
We had dirt cups with worms, slimy worm jello, and mud pit drinks (chocolate milk). Then with talking Timon and Pumbaa by our sides, and cuddled up in our new The Mane Event fleece blanket, we sat back and enjoyed a much needed and well-deserved movie night…what’s more, I want one of you to be able to enjoy a Lion King Movie Night as well, so I am giving away a copy! One winner will receive a multi-screen copy of the movie, then just throw together a few slimy, yet satisfying treats of your own, and enjoy!
Dirt Cups with Worms:
- Chocolate pudding (made according to box directions)
- Graham Crackers (Crushed)
- OREO Cookies (Crushed)
- Gummy Worms
Once your chocolate pudding has set, fill your bowl with a layer of graham crackers, followed by a layer of chocolate pudding, then a layer of crushed OREO Cookies. Stick in a few gummy worms, and viola! Dirt cups with worms!
Slimy Worm Jello:
- Jello (whichever flavor you like best!)
- gummy worms
- leaf-shaped jello mold (or whatever you have on hand!)
Prepare your jello according to the package directions, place a handful of gummy worms in the bottom of your mold or pan, then slowly pour the liquid jello into the mold. Refrigerate as directed!
Mud Pit Drinks:
- Chocolate milk
- marshmallow grubs (optional)
Each of these treats is super easy to make, and perfect for the kids to help with! Now, before we get to the MANE event, here is a little bonus info that can only be found on the Blu-Ray and Digital!
