Red Shoes, Dwarfs, and a GIVEAWAY!
The kids and I got to enjoy a new movie on family movie night! Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs! Okay, so let’s start off by saying that those seven dwarfs aren’t exactly the ones you are imagining. They aren’t the hi-ho, hi-ho kind…actually, they are green, and once upon a time, they were all Princes!
So in this movie, we have Snow White, some green dwarfs, and an evil step-mother…you would think this was shaping up to be the classic fairy tale. Nope, it’s not…not even a little bit!
This movie has so much to offer, there are twists and turns that you aren’t expecting, and there are life lessons that are learned by the main characters. Without giving away too much, I will say that Snow White isn’t the classic character you remember, and it’s the evil step-mother’s red shoes that make her look like the lovely (on the outside) princess. The little green dwarfs? Yeah, a bunch of Princes under a spell, trying to find the princess in hopes that a kiss will break the spell.
Oh, and that evil step-mother? Yeah, without those red shoes of her, she ages quickly…a la Mother Gothel from Tangled. My kids and I really enjoyed this movie and had a long discussion about differences, what makes us unique, and how we should treat others.
